this is footage from Gonzaga University Specialized Recreation, or GUSR for short. It is a volunteer organization in which volunteers work with adults in the Spokane community with developmental disabilities. i am one of these extremely lucky volunteers. you go into this program thinking you will change people’s lives. and you might. but more than anything else, these amazing individuals change you. at 0:12 you see my play partner Billy. i shadow him, help him with his lines, and we make sure he is enjoying himself at our weekly play practices. he is 21, full of joy, and a GREAT dancer. he makes me smile every day, and makes the bad things in my life seem not so bad. please watch, enjoy, and join the movement to end the “R Word”.
